SMIS for Oil Storage Tanks

Monitoring of geometric parameters and stress-strain state of vertical oil storage tanks

Application of digital quartz single-coordinate inclinometers IN120, two-coordinate inclinometers IN203, and micromechanical two-coordinate inclinometers ACt90 in monitoring systems for the technical condition of oil and gas storage tanks.

Purpose and Objectives

Monitoring of oil storage tanks (RVS, RVSP, RVSS, RVSPK, etc.) is carried out to prevent emergencies. Monitoring is conducted in real time and allows early diagnosis of degradation processes, including: control over uneven settlement and deviation of tank walls from vertical.

Technical Requirements

The integrated system is a three-level information system including: primary tilt sensors (inclinometers), data collection and transmission subsystem (local servers with wireless data transmission), and data accumulation and processing subsystem.

Sensor Placement

Tilt sensors (inclinometers) are recommended to be evenly placed along 4 vertical lines and 3 horizontal lines on the outer wall of the tank for correct determination of wall deviation from vertical.
