Inclinometry is a branch of measurement technology dealing with the measurement of tilt angles and angular displacements of objects relative to the Earth's gravitational field.
Types of Inclinometers
BAU-MONITORING produces several types of inclinometers for various monitoring tasks: IN120 quartz single-axis inclinometer, IN203 quartz dual-axis inclinometer, ACt90 micromechanical dual-axis inclinometer, and IN-A201 inclinometer-accelerometer.
Applications
- High-rise building tilt control
- Bridge support deviation monitoring
- Slope and embankment stability control
- Dam and levee deformation monitoring
- Mine shaft verticality control
Operating Principle
Quartz inclinometers are based on the change in oscillation frequency of a quartz wire when the tilt angle changes. The quartz wire is suspended in the Earth's gravitational field, and when the tilt angle changes, the force acting on the wire changes, leading to a change in its oscillation frequency.
